Dr. Kx. Txawjteeb Christopher Thao
Teng Christopher Thao, JD, PhD. is president of Hmong Bible Resource Center (HBRC), White Bear Lake, MN. HBRC publishes the digital Hmong American Bible, a translation from the original Hebrew and Greek. It is being made available in four Hmong dialects: White, Blue, Black and Sa. Predominantly animistic and ancestral worshippers, the Hmong (also known as Miao) mainly live in China and Southeast Asia and speak 15 different dialects. Only five groups have heard the gospel in the last century. Among them, only a small percent have accepted Christ and only three groups have the Bible in their languages.
While being a civil litigation attorney, he was active in the Hmong community in Minnesota. He helped found Hmong Alliance Church of Coon Rapids and was a co-founder of Hmong American Partnership, the largest Hmong led refugee service agency in Minnesota. Also, he served on the governing board of Western Bank and the board of trustees at Crown College.
He was called into Christian ministry in 1996. While practicing law, he took biblical studies, completing a PhD in New Testament from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Then in 2002, he left the practice of law to pastor churches in CA and MI for 20 years. He remains passionate about getting the gospel to all 15 Hmong groups around the world and discipling them to faith in Jesus Christ.
He is married to Sylvia Thao. They have 7 children and 14 grandchildren
