Reviving a Proven Model of Compassion to Help Refugees Rebuild Their Lives
Immigration Service
Immigration & Safe Haven Program
Across Asia and beyond, countless Hmong and tribal families are fleeing Christian persecution, political injustice, ethnic violence, and threats to their very survival. Many escape with nothing but the clothes on their backs, leaving behind homes, farms, churches, and the communities they love.
Love International is committed to walking with these displaced families through one of the most frightening seasons of their lives. Through our Immigration & Safe Haven Program, we help refugees find safety, stability, and hope — and we revive a powerful model used by American churches in the 1970s–80s that once transformed an entire generation of Southeast Asian refugees.
Why We Do This
Behind every refugee is a story of heartbreak:
- A church burned because Christians refused to renounce their faith
- A pastor targeted for preaching the Gospel
- A mother fleeing with her children through mountains
- A family denied justice in their home country
- A community uprooted by oppression
When they reach a safer place, they face new challenges:
- No legal knowledge
- No income or food
- No documents
- No access to school
- No ability to communicate
- Trauma and deep emotional wounds
These families are not running toward a better life —
they are running for their lives.
Love International stands in the gap to say:
“You are not alone. We will walk with you.”
How the Modern Sponsorship Model Works
1. Safe Haven Support (Immediate Relief)
In border regions or safe host countries, sponsors help us provide:
- Temporary housing
- Food and basic necessities
- Medical and trauma care
- Transportation and interpreter support
- Pastoral care and spiritual comfort
Families experience safety, dignity, and the love of Christ from day one.
2. Immigration & Legal Pathway (Guided Support)
Just as churches once walked refugees through resettlement, we assist families with:
- Legal documentation
- Asylum and visa processes
- Appointments and interviews
- Translation services
- Ongoing advocacy
We help families understand a system that would otherwise be overwhelming and impossible to navigate alone.
3. Long-Term Sponsorship (Relationship-Based Care)
A church, group, or family can “adopt” a refugee family, providing:
- Housing assistance
- English learning support
- Cultural orientation
- Daily life assistance (shopping, transportation, etc.)
- School enrollment for children
- Technology and communication access
- Job skill development
Community and fellowship
This model mirrors what American churches did in the 70s/80s — and it works because it is relational, not transactional.
4. Life Restoration Pathway (From Survival to Stability)
We help families rebuild their lives with support in:
- Education
- Employment training
- Christian discipleship
- Trauma healing
- Family counseling
- Long-term stability and independence
This journey leads from crisis → healing → growth → a future filled with hope.
Together, we can expand our reach and impact.
Will You Join Us?
These families are our brothers and sisters in Christ. They are persecuted, displaced, and seeking refuge. We have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
